Item Description
Set back and kept for a later time, this super rare Winchester Sharpshooter rifle is now being offered to a perceptive bidder. Built by H-S Precision for the Winchester custom shop at New Hartford in 1998 and finished in the first few days of 1999, it was delivered to the gun shop where it has been stored in the vault until now. The work done by H-S Precision is obviously top notch as the factory test group is an astounding .1346", and that with the old 180gr Silver Tip; not exactly the crowning jewel of accuracy. The stock is an H-S Precision PST 38F and it has a length of pull of 13 ½" and is perfect for the bench or even off hand. The action is the Express-length type and so any scope mounts or bases will need to fit accordingly. As to the chambering… total class in the 300 Holland and Holland, the cartridge that won Wimbledon twice and has been revered by such greats as Craig Boddington and Layne Simpson. With it's long sloping shoulder of just 8.5 degrees and a belt around the case head, it flies in the face of the common wisdom of the day for what a super accurate cartridge should be. Nevertheless, the pudding cannot be denied as the proof of accuracy is still with the 300 H&H. This rifle remains unfired and is counted as “New old stock” and includes all the paperwork and the original case from the factory. (WARNING!!! Gun Broker is now adding taxes and fees to the final winning bid amount. WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THIS! Please be aware that you will be charged taxes for your state.)
